Mavericks Cheerleaders

RokStories

NOW YOU KNOW THE NAME!

Afterparty

The Mavericks Cheerleading Squad was established in 2006 by Kirsten Sheppard with no funding but with the purpose of providing Kent with a high standard competing, performing, and game-day squad who are now firmly established as one of Kent's top cheerleading teams. With NCSSE/USASF qualified coaches and judges, the squad train in cheer, stunting, tumbling and dance.

The Mavericks Cheerleaders, when not training or competing, cheer for the East Kent Mavericks American Football team providing them with cheers and half-time entertainment at their home games, as well as performing at numerous promotional and fundraising events.

The Mavericks Cheerleaders do not fit the stereotypical view of cheerleading or the 'pom-pom' mythology. Cheerleading is a sport that requires dedication and a lot of hard work combining strength, agility, co-ordination and teamwork, but still proves to be one of the most fun and exciting sports around. Those that join the squad find they make good friends, both within the Mavericks, as well as with the members of the teams we cheer for. We pride ourselves on our family and close-knit atmosphere where anyone of any level and ability is always welcome.

Afterparty
Cheerleading is a high energy, multi-disciplined competitive sport which combines a mixture of dance, gymnastics, and acrobatics. It is physically challenging, developing members coordination, strength, flexibility, and musicality, whilst also emphasising teamwork and most importantly trust. It is also one of the fastest growing sports in the UK, with over 16,000 people from the ages 5 to 35 practicing the sport, and more joining every year- we hope you will join our Mavericks family too!
